Si avui coneixem Ramsès II com a Ramsès el Gran és per l'habilitat que va tenir per presentar-se com el monarca més poderós d'aquella antiga civilització. Va ser un gran guerrer i un gran diplomàtic, però, sobretot, va ser un excel·lent propagandista.
